Our Vets:
Dr Fiona Lacey BSc, BVMS, GAICD
Fiona graduated from Murdoch University in 1998 after starting her working life in the racing industry. After graduation she spent a year in a large
racetrack practice in South Australia before moving to Agnes Banks Equine Clinic in NSW. The 3 years she spent there provided a solid reproductive foundation that she has since built on by working in various reproductive practices around the world, including Northern Ireland, England and New Zealand.
After returning to Perth in 2004 and meeting Colin, she started the practice, developed a boutique thoroughbred stud (in conjunction with Colin) and had two (mostly) delightful boys.
In her 'spare' time Fiona actively shows and breeds her Old English Sheepdogs and many of you would be familiar with the noisy welcome that comes from the office when you pull up in the carpark!
Dr Sandra Mateu-Sanchez DVM MRCVS AVE(2024)
Sandra grew up in Spain and graduated from veterinary school there in 2015. While she was studying, she developed a passion for equine reproduction and assisted with research projects that took her to equine hospitals in both Denmark and England. Once she finished her studies, she spent a few months in different studs and vet clinics in Australia, before going back to the northern hemisphere to work in a very specialised equine reproductive clinic in Yorkshire.
She met Fiona in the UK, came over to Perth in 2016 and did back-to-back breeding seasons until 2018 when she decided Australia was the place to be. She's been working at OGEC ever since and finally passed the Australian Veterinary Examination in 2024 - so now she can stay here forever!
Sandra is very passionate about all aspects in equine reproduction, from basic breeding to assisted reproductive techniques, as well as neonatology and breeding the difficult mare. She always tries to give her clients the most comprehensive experience when they come to OGEC.
